Mapbox and Google Maps

PropLink uses Mapbox for address autocomplete, geocoding and on-screen maps. Google Maps is used as a fallback in regions where Mapbox coverage is weaker.

Where you see it

  • Site address entry — as you type, suggestions appear. Picking one fills the postcode, latitude and longitude.
  • Unit UPRN lookup — for UK addresses, the UPRN is fetched.
  • Site map view — the site location appears on a map on its summary page.
  • Portfolio map — every site in your portfolio plotted on a single map under Portfolio → Map.
  • Distance calculations — for contractor dispatch (which vendor is nearest).

Privacy

Address lookups happen on your browser through Mapbox's hosted service. The address you type is sent to Mapbox to return suggestions. PropLink does not log or store the queries.

Coverage

Mapbox covers the UK comprehensively. For property anywhere addressable in the UK, you should get postcode-accurate results.

Limits

Mapbox enforces request limits per IP and per session to prevent abuse. Normal use is well below the limits.

Customer-side configuration

There is no configuration to do. The integration is managed centrally by PropLink. If maps are not appearing or addresses are not autocompleting, contact PropLink support.

Fallback

If Mapbox is unavailable for any reason, PropLink falls back to free-text address entry. You can still enter an address, but the postcode validation and geocoding will not happen. The site will be created without coordinates and the map will be unavailable until the integration recovers.
