Positions and connections

A contact has more than just a name and an email. Positions record what the contact does. Connections record their relationship to other contacts.

Positions

A position is a job title at a company. Examples:

  • Director at Acacia RMC Limited
  • Operations Manager at Property Group Holdings
  • Partner at Smith & Co Solicitors

A contact can hold multiple positions. They can be an Operations Manager at the agent's firm and a Director of an RMC at the same time.

Add a position

    1. Open the contact.
    2. Click Positions → Add position.
    3. Pick the company from the company directory or add a new one.
    4. Enter the title.
    5. Optionally set start and end dates if the position is historical.
    6. Save.

Positions appear on the contact's profile and feed into reports such as the directors' list, the AGM distribution list and any company-level communications.

Connections

A connection is a relationship between two contacts. Examples:

  • Mr Patel is the spouse of Mrs Patel.
  • Smith & Co Solicitors acts for Mr Jones.
  • Mr Brown is the executor of Mrs Brown's estate.

Connections record relationships PropLink would not infer otherwise. Useful when correspondence should go to a related party (a solicitor acting for a client, an attorney under power of attorney) or when you want to flag relationships for safeguarding (a vulnerable contact who has a registered carer).

Add a connection

    1. Open the contact.
    2. Click Connections → Add connection.
    3. Pick the other contact.
    4. Choose the type of connection: spouse, partner, executor, attorney, solicitor, agent, parent, child, related (other).
    5. Optionally tick Bidirectional to create the matching connection on the other side automatically.
    6. Save.

Connections appear on both contacts' pages. If you mark Mrs Patel as the spouse of Mr Patel, the same connection is visible on Mr Patel's page.

PropLink reads these structured relationships rather than parsing free-text notes, which is what makes them reliable in automation.
