What to do next, by role
Once you have an organisation, a site and a few units, your next steps depend on what you do day to day. Pick whichever path fits.
You manage residential blocks
You will spend most of your time in Block Management. In order:
- Read The service charge cycle so you have the shape of the year in your head.
- Set up your chart of accounts. PropLink seeds the common ones but you may want to tailor them.
- Define a lease schedule so PropLink knows how to apportion charges.
- Build your first service charge budget.
- Connect GoCardless so leaseholders can pay by Direct Debit.
- Set up an arrears workflow.
You manage facilities or commercial property
You will be in Facilities Management most days. In order:
- Read Maintenance events vs work orders vs issues.
- Build your compliance matrix so you know what is due when.
- Add your asset register so each item links to its planned maintenance.
- Set up service agreements with your preferred contractors.
- Schedule the first cycle of planned maintenance events.
You manage a high-risk building
You will need Building Safety alongside Block Management. In order:
- Read The Building Safety Act 2022.
- Register the HRB site in PropLink with its regulator reference.
- Name the Principal Accountable Person on the site.
- Plan the rollout of the Golden Thread. Coming soon.
You are an accountant
You will live in Financials.
- Confirm your tax rates match HMRC's current rates.
- Set up bank accounts, one organisation account, one per site as you prefer.
- Connect your first bank feed.
- Make sure your chart of accounts matches your accounting practice.
